APS Team’s Gurdham Yatra | Nankana Sahib
APS Team’s 12-Day Spiritual Yatra to Pakistan for 555th Prakash Purab | Nankana Sahib & Historic Gurdwaras
This is a monumental moment of faith and remembrance! From November 20th to December 1st, 2024, a large delegation from the American Punjabi Society (APS) embarked on a historic journey—a yatra—to Pakistan.
(The Purpose) The primary purpose of this pilgrimage was to commemorate the 555th birth anniversary (Prakash Purab) of the first Sikh Guru, Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji. The ceremonies were held at Nankana Sahib, Pakistan, the sacred site of his birth.
Under the dedicated leadership of APS President Mr. Gary S. Sikka Ji, a dedicated group of 134 pilgrims from the American Punjabi community embarked on this historic journey from November 20, 2024, to December 2, 2024.
The Journey
Over the 12 days, the team immersed themselves in the rich history of the Sikh faith, visiting Gurdwara Janam Asthan at Nankana Sahib, and paying respects at various other significant and historic Gurdwaras across Pakistan.
The Heart of Sikhism
The main destination was Nankana Sahib, Pakistan, the sacred birthplace of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the founder of the Sikh faith. The Yatra offered an unparalleled opportunity for the 134 pilgrims to stand where the First Guru walked and reflect on the timeless values that guide the Sikh faith.
The APS extends its heartfelt gratitude to all the pilgrims for their participation and is proud of the positive reception the Yatra received on both sides of the border.
Regards,
Garry Sikka
President.
