
Dr. Taranjeet Kalra Ahuja is a graduate of the 7-year BS/DO program at the New York Institute of Technology and received her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed her pediatric residency at Stony Brook University Hospital, located in Stony Brook, NY. While there, she was selected to be chief resident and was recognized for her skills as a clinician and medical educator.
Following time in private practice, Dr. Ahuja assumed a position in academics at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell (ZSOM), where she has been a full-time faculty member since 2012. Dr. Ahuja is an Associate Professor of Science Education & Pediatrics and currently holds the title: Director, Humanism in Medicine and Communications Co-Leader. In this role, she co-leads the 4-year longitudinal communication skills curriculum, co-directs the scholarly concentration in humanities, Narrateur, ZSOM’s literary and art journal, and serves as the co-advisor of the Gold Humanism Honor Society.
Dr. Ahuja completed her Master of Science in Education (MSEd) at Hofstra University. She has maintained a pediatric clinical practice and is board-certified by the American Board of Pediatrics. In 2021, she was inducted into the prestigious Academy of Medical Educators at the Zucker School of Medicine and, in May 2023, was appointed as Chair of Pediatrics at Plainview Hospital, Northwell Health. Lastly, she was awarded the Leonard Tow Humanism in Medicine Award in May 2025 by the graduating class of ZSOM.
Dr. Ahuja is actively involved in her community through the American Punjabi Society (APS). She has been a member of the Women’s Council of APS since March 2024 and has been a key organizer for their blood drive, breast cancer walk, and other community-related activities.
